LOADING AKAI SONIC IMPLANTS
How do I access all the sounds on my Akai disk?
Akai disks are setup in what’s called “volumes”. Each volume on an
Akai disk contains programs and samples. You access all the sounds
on your Akai disk by opening up different volumes and seeing what’s
in there to load. Note, not all volumes listed will contain sounds.
Loading Akai sounds into
Gigastudio.
Gigastudio will read Akai disks. Simply put the Akai disk into your
PC CD-ROM drive and follow the instructions in your
Gigastudio
manual for accessing Akai CDs.
Loading Akai sounds into Emu synths.
Depending on the Emu sampler you have, there are “Import Options”
for loading Akai sounds. In general you want to set the options to
do a “FULL” import so that it gets all the Program data as well as
samples and keymaps. There are also options for dealing with Loop
Points. If after you Import an Akai sound and you’re not getting the
results you want, find the Import Options page and try changing
those settings and reloading.
Loading Akai sounds into other non-Akai synths.
There are many samplers that read Akai disks. Too many for us
to keep up with! Please, if you are not getting the results you
want, consult the manual or technical support for your sampler. They
will have the answers you seek much more that we will. You can also
try to find an Internet site or bulletin board to post your
questions. Getting to other users that are working with your sampler
is a great way to find the ins and outs of how things work.
My PC or MAC CD-ROM drive does not see my
Sonic Implants disk.
Akai disks are not formatted as PC ISO9660 disks so your PC or MAC
will not recognize it. Some software samplers DO allow you to simply
put your Akai disk into your PC or MAC drive and load sounds. The
ones we know of are
Gigastudio and Unity DS-1 via Osmosis, a
converter program.
